Our Little King

Yes, we have a new kitten.  He's a siamese cross, 10 weeks old, and his name is King.   He honestly the sweetest little thing.   That's King with his brother, before we brought him home on Saturday!

There's something about a kitten that makes everyone talk in baby-talk and smile a little extra.  He's adjusted now to our house by the evidence of him exploring and taking over all of Stella's favourite spots.  He's also a very good litter box user.  For you cat lovers, you know that litter box usage is important.  We've had a very, very smelly 6 years with our Stella, but with the addition of King that's all over since he covers up her messes too!  Horray!!!

Rory, our golden, loves King and sits and waits all day long for King to love her too.  Stella is in a mood and is bitter with everyone, not just King.  She's doing very well though, for not really liking the situation.  She's hissing a bit, but she's always the one to back off and go away and she's not seeking King out to hiss or be nasty.  Good Job Stella!  I know it'll take her a bit to come around, but she's already doing so much better than I thought she would.

It's so nice to have a cat that will let us pet him without attacking us.  He's so sweet and he had an excellent start in life, so he's well socialized.  It's not Stella's fault that she doesn't like to be pet.  She had such a terrible first 6 months before we adopted her, that it's taken her years to calm down.  Rory helped her learn to trust a lot.  She imporved dramatically after we were blessed with Rory.  I'm sure that given time, she'll feel the same way with King.  She'll see that we still love her and that life is still fine and wonderful.  Her little anxieties will start to melt away.

King is sleeping soundly right now on the back of the couch.  He's so peaceful and safe!  Horray for baby animals!!!
