I was watching 100 Huntley Street this morning, as I do most mornings, and there was this woman on named Connie Cavanaugh. Her story touched home with me and how sometimes we wander away from our spiritual truth and God. The thing that she's been able to do to bring herself back to faith and grace is choosing to "say 'Yes' to God". Sometimes you might have to say yes many times in a day, expecially at first, because your yes muscles have gotten weak. What an insight Connie was for me this morning! I so need to get a copy of her new book "Following God One Yes at a Time". If I identified so much with her interview, I'm sure her book will be the same. As a start, until I can get my hands on a copy, I'm following Connie's blog @ http://conniecavanaugh.wordpress.com/ . It's full of lots of little nuggets of truth and practical ideas for how to start saying yes to God.
It's a very simple thing I think, to remember to choose Yes. It's following through on that yes that may be the challenge, but that's part of the beauty of it I guess. Saying yes to faith and God means, though, that I don't have to do it on my own steam either, because I have my Creator helping me through it every step of the way. I've been wandering a bit myself, so to have such a great reminder today to focus and choose the best way for me, which is God's way, is a wonderful blessing.
Luke 11:9 & 10 comes to mind "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." By saying yes I am seeking, asking, and knocking. By saying yes I'm being given, finding, and having the door opened for me. So simple, yet I think we forget sometimes how easy it can be to give over to our Higher Power.
The ladies from Sister Act sum it up perfectly, I will follow Him!
