"I'm Gonna Walk With My Grand-Daddy"

"When I get where I'm goin'...I'm gonna walk with my Grand-daddy...and then I'll hug his neck" These lines from Brad Paisley sum up how I feel about one of the things I look forward to doing when I get to Heaven someday.  I'm sure that Poppy is up there fishing with Jesus, laughing and telling some inappropriate jokes right now.
Today, my family said goodbye to Poppy.  It would've been his seventy-third birthday.  I, very unfortunately, was not able to go for many reasons, which don't matter in the grand scheme of things, but I know that my Poppy knows that I love him and always will.  I had every single family member in my heart and prayers today, because not only did we lose our Poppy, but my aunts and uncles lost their dad and my Nanny lost her husband. I'm sorry for their lose, as I'm sorry for mine.  It was a sad day for everyone, whether I was there or not, because it wasn't about that, it was about Poppy and what a wonderful man Heaven is gaining.

My Poppy was a hard working, family man who did everything he could to be a good provider.  He taught me how to fish and he taught me how to build a fire.  He taught me about boats and building things.  He never treated me like I couldn't do something and always explained things so I could understand.  He joked with me all the time and one day he even tried convincing me that they actually make pantyhose for mosquitos, it was hilarious!  I mean picture it ~ tiny little pantyhose on tiny little mosquito legs...AHAHAHA.  That was Poppy!  He liked his country music and he liked his port, too.  He really was a good man!

No matter how much I talk or don't, I will never be able to truely encompass who he was.

So, today I join in spirit with my family and simply say ~ Goodbye Poppy Joe.  I will love you forever!

A very beautiful tribute for your 'Poppy.' I am sure he is smiling down from heaven at you and knows how you feel in your heart. A new guardian angel is watching over you now.

I am so very sorry for your loss.

Hugs,
Beth
